MTI, are these "bumps" little nubs almost like what comes on a new tire?

I see this at the bottom of the pad in the rear on one side:

Just checking to make sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing.

Thanks!

ummm... my car has about 4-5" of wheel gap. and my rims are 17" and the tires add another 6"(3top and 3 bottom of the rim) but what would happen if i took out the bushings all together? can i harm anything other than my tires? or are these cups essential?...

I just had H&R springs and Bilstein Sports put on my 16V...however I am sure no pads were changed...ie , I believe originals were used. The car has 17 x 7.5 rims, with 215 x 17 x 40 tires...225 x 17 x 45's rubbed way too much...It will touch very slightly when turning right and going through a major dip..on the left hand side only...I am going to have the bumper adjusted slightly on that side.

The car actually sits slightly higher now than it did before...in part because of the wheel size change...they were 15's with 195 40's previously. However given the wheel/tire diameter...the car could not sit any lower without rubbing. The ride on this car (16V) with stock sway bars is definitely "sport"..read "harsh"...and a bit skitish over short period bumps at high speed while in a turn. It is very predictable as long as their are no serious short bumps in the radius of the turn. My feeling is that the H&R springs are stiffer than the Eibach Pro Kit, in addition to the difference in the shocks.

On my 2.6 I just installed the Eibach Pro Kit with Bilstein HD's....this definitely dropped the car 1.6" as advertised...still using 15's on this car with 185 x 60's. Love the ride this combination gives me....definitely more stable at highway cruise of 74 mph, and way more stable at 90+ mph....still pliant enough to be comfortable over all road conditions. The little bit of oversteer is perfectly correctable with minor throttle...much more predictable than the stock set up.

Did notice that the spring/shock change seems to have resulted in some noticeable wear in my outer sway bar/control arm bushings(about 8 weeks after the change)...different angle than stock no doubt...and the car does have 211,000 miles...so new bushings might be a good idea if you are thinking of making the changes to springs and shocks.

One other minor change noticed....since going to the 17" wheel/tire combination, my 16V is definitely slower on acceleration than previously..in fact it is now identical to my 2.6. (my son attempted a pass, and the cars were virtually dead even..whereas before the tire change, the 16V would have walked right by the 2.6 at 70+ mph and climbing...both automatics)

Also a side note is most people have the sagging to drivers side problem.

I was told that the way the spring sits in the spring pad is causing the problem. The drivers side spring pads are near crushed to death so buying new spring pads is a must for any1 who sees this problem when looking at your rear from far away.
