Exclamation M104 swap - 08-28-2008, 07:40 PM

Hey I've been lurking round here for years (doesn't seem that way) but I really don't post

I got a 190 2.6 and I wanted to boost it figuared I could do it Pumish gave me hope with his boosted 300e m103.

Here's the thing I figuared I would boost my engine have fun for a year or so then, blow it up then do a swap. But in december I crashed my baby in the snow against a gaurd rail and tore my bumber and left fender all to shit. Aswell as putting a hole in the raidator so I drove it home and parked it planning on ebaying a fender or my local three star salage yard.

So I started worked over time to fix my car and drove my mini van in the mean time week and the half later the fuel pump went out. So yeah I started driving the 190e back and forth to work with a broke raidator with the car starting to run hot by the time I got to my destination

did that for about 2.5 months and 1 day while just starting the car up 2 go 2 the store I was at a light and a prelude pulled up and it was a guy I new that worked with that wanted to run. So the light turned green and I peeled out leaving him bout 3.5 cars behind then I heard a whisling sound and oil presussure down blwn head gasket it. . . I had fun tho.

Drive the car for about a week with a blown headgasket then parked it. So now I got a blown headgasket I want to do a m104 swap. And here comes the question can a m104 from a c280 mount up to my 4 speed auto? And is the for speed in our 190's a 722.4?? Thank if any 1 can help that would be apreciated.

Paragraphs made it a little easier to read.

I think everything you need to tweak the car is in this forum. Have fun.

it will most likely bolt right up on the engine dunno for the ring-gear/torque converter tho. my guess would be the c280 ring-gear and the w201 torque converter.

what are you planing for engine management?

good luck

No offense dude, but I would recommend taking a little better care of your cars before embarking on such a risky endeavor as a motor swap or turbo install. That said, good luck, and there are plenty of m104 swaps on this board, a couple of which have been at least somewhat documented. Any specific questions?

Oh re-read. 722.4 is the trans used in the 2.6 if my memory serves me correctly.

I was thinking on using the HFM from the car but as I ben reading that has some issues and ups and downs. I really was leaning towards megasquirting it (V. 3.0) I was planning on megasquirting the m103 so why not the M104 I don't think I have seen the done before.

Probably because HFM is already an optimized EFI-type system, so megasquirt if anything could be a step back. You can tweak either system, though more easily w/ megasquirt of course. If you did the HFM swap, I would highly recommend retaining the OEM engine control system unless you turbo or supercharge it. Otherwise, it is just un-necissary

I was thinking it would be easyier to megasquirt it, after reading about hfm and other peoples problems with "limp" mode and abs speed censors and all that I figuared to just megasquirt it. Plus after I successfully install the engine I wanna low boost supercharge it. Just figuared I'd mention that but that's a whole nother thread.
