i dont find myself turning my wheel 190 degrees left or right to do a 90 degree turn anymore, its alot less, like about 150-160 degrees.

i took my car to Just Tires and had them do a quick alignment on my car for like $60 to an AMG 190E 3.2 (dunno if the alignment specs are THAT much different), now the steering wheel is straight and previous alignment issues from lowering the car are now gone.

Some people upgrade their car for performance reasons, not just for a certain 'look' or to name-drop.

The 16v box is a huge difference in the over-all steerability/handling of the car.

well after driving it for a while, i need to fix the adjustment on the steering box. its way too tight in the center and makes it hard to drive smooth in a straight line on the freeway.

looking back at the pics...are you sure you had the box centered when you installed it? it took me a while to figure out how to center the steering box and linkage when installing...i finally started making measurement marks with white-out to get it all aligned correctly.

nope! not positive.

there is a little flat notch on the pitman shaft which i used to help center the steering gear. i turned the end where the steering column connects to each lock, made a mark on the housing where the notch ended up. then i turned it until it was centered and shoved it back into the car. never really made good attempts to get the linkage to be centered other than looking at the rotors to make sure they look centered.

dont really feel like pulling the steering gear out again unless there is some good tool to remove and reinstall the pitman arm, but i do need to make adjustments to how stiff the steering gear is, because its a bit awkward to drive it this stiff. have you ever adjusted that part ceph?

thats ok, i just went ahead and tried to readjust it today, was kinda hard since the nut and screw that adjusts it are right underneath the intake manifold.

so i loosened it up, hopefully it should drive better on the freeway now.

baaah i hate this mod now, its become more trouble than its worth.

i found out today that the gearbox is leaking, probably because i didnt tighten all the bolts around the pitman shaft. i went to tighten the bolts around it, and one of the heads snapped off.

tried to use a drill-out bolt extractor, but there simply isnt enough room to shove a drill up there without taking the gearbox out of the car.

blah will have to wait till there is enough time to take it out and repeat the process all over again, dammit...

That sucks dawg. It's a cool mod though. One of the first things I notice when driving my 16vlv versus the 2.6 is the difference in the steering.
