Fuel,Water and Oil needle dead - 11-13-2008, 07:24 AM

It happened this morning. Everything was fine until I stopped and restarted the car. I noticed that the Fuel, Water Temperature and Oil Pressure Needle were all dead, pointing to zero ( in order words not working ). However the Economy needle is working though.

So Im wondering if the three of them are connected to one another from a fuse or something? Any idea where I should be looking at?

Definetly fuses, check your fuse box. (under the hood left back) Has happened to me before think its a white fuse that you need to replace. Economy gauge works because it works off a vaccume while the others are electronic.

Check the fuses, but don't trust just a visual check, use a continuity device like an ohmmeter.

If you can rule out the fuses, then another common fault is the grounding to the left side of the cluster. The grounding is via a spot weld that connects the left to the center cluster. Vibration and age can cause a break. A simple check for that situation is a sharp blow to the top of the dash and see if the dials come back to life temporarily.

Thank you for your replies. I'll try and see if it comes back to life.

Cheers

I've checked the fuses, they are all in good shape. Gave the cluster a few times of knocking, but it didnt work.

Anyway I'll try to remove the cluster tommorow and try to search for the grounding as what MTI has pointed.
