1989 2.6

Upon removing the air filter housing I discovered this little guy apparently not connected to anything. :\ And I tried to look at the manual but apparently am a dummy... :) Thanx...

I did the same thing and discovered this piece as well. I'm not sure what it does but it has a black hose that it lives inside. Find the black hose of approxemately the same length and feed it back through. Should solve your problem.

Yeah, I know where that goes. I've replaced that rubber breather hose on my 190E, and had to remove that little vacuum hose as well. But I don't know what it does.
It's a shame I haven't got my car here, otherwise I would take a picture.
Basically, you have to remove your air filter housing, and you can see where it will go.
Or, just take a picture with the air filter housing off, and I'll point it out. The vacuum hose goes into another small rubber fitting near the LH side (looking forward).

And now, diff Oil is gone as well: Mechanic Replaced Diff Seal and I'm sure he wouldn't have used RP)

...so then replacing that little hose would be as simple as finding a replacement hose and "hooking" it back up...? (granted I'd have to remove the air filter housing and what not)

Well, the Larger black rubber hose pushes onto the underside of the Airfilter housing (a round fitting). The little plastic vacuum hose goes just underneath that, where a rubber fitting comes up from the top of the engine (it's slightly larger, so that the vacuum hose fits inside it).
If you can take a pic, that would make it easier. I get my car back in 5-6 days, so I won't be able to show you on mine, until then.

EDIT: I don't think anything needs to be replaced, just put back (from what I saw in the pic).

Thanx cypress. I prolly never woulda' found that. Unfortunately it still wont start, but at least now I know where that silly hose goes. ;)

One more quick thing: Is there supposed to be a hole on top of the air filter housing? (and no, not the bolts; theres a hole near the middle of the housing with apparently nothing in it)

I think you're talking about the hole for the mixture control. It's just a hole to allow access to the adjustment screw below.

It sits above here, right (that's the adjustement screw)?

Ahh, yeah, it does sit right above that. Just making sure that there wasn't something else that I was missing.

Yeah, I know. But that's what the hole (in the airbox) is there for. That's what it sits right above of.
