I think you're talking about the hole for the mixture control. It's just a hole to allow access to the adjustment screw below.

It sits above here, right (that's the adjustement screw)?

And now, diff Oil is gone as well: Mechanic Replaced Diff Seal and I'm sure he wouldn't have used RP)
