fuel pump is bad. Your fuel system is designed in a way to maintain pressure in the lines. When you turn the key and the car starts the fuel pressure forces what ever fuel it can in to the engine and since the fuel pumps dont work you run out of fuel and die. In the end you end up taking it to a shop who charges you a bill of $1100 to fix it.
