Yeah, I know where that goes. I've replaced that rubber breather hose on my 190E, and had to remove that little vacuum hose as well. But I don't know what it does.
It's a shame I haven't got my car here, otherwise I would take a picture.
Basically, you have to remove your air filter housing, and you can see where it will go.
Or, just take a picture with the air filter housing off, and I'll point it out. The vacuum hose goes into another small rubber fitting near the LH side (looking forward).

The vacuum hose goes into another small rubber fitting near the LH side (looking forward). 1985 190E, 280,000km, White, Blue Cloth Interior, Kenwood/Alpine/Blaupunkt Sound System, Yokohama AVS ES100 Tyres, full SecondSkin Sound Insulation, Motorola Voice Recognition Car Kit, Navman F20 GPS Navigation, all Royal Purple Fluids (except Engine Oil, it was getting a bit too expensive at US$80 every few months. And now, diff Oil is gone as well: Mechanic Replaced Diff Seal and I'm sure he wouldn't have used RP)
