Hey all, I'm just a long time lurker, new poster here. I have posted a little before, but I decided to post some pics of my car and get more involved here.

This morning I woke up with the idea to take pics of my 190E after some lunch at In-n-out. It was raining and I unforunately crashed the car into a curb on the way home. (Will explain some more if you wish.)

So here are the pics of my car:

[edit]Explaining what happened:

The 190E originally belonged to my aunt and she had only replaced the tires on my car once, and they have been driven on for about 130000 miles. My dad (yes I'm a teenager, probably youngest member on this forum) told me the tires look fine and I can use them for a little bit more.

I was stopped at an intersection waiting to turn left. I took off at a normal speed, not very fast, and all of a sudden my rear wheels slid out and I countersteered too much, made the car go 180 and smacked into a curb.

I had someone look at the damage and he told me I need to find replacement control arms for the rear left wheel. So yeah, theres my story and my borked car.

Latest Update - 11/5/08
1993 E420 Brake swap:

painting the brake rotors with gray zero rust so they dont rust.

stock rear brakes, wimpy.

stock rear dust shield gets in the way of the big rotor. gotta cut it down

lots of sparks everywhere, be sure to wear goggles. also careful around the camber strut link. dont cut it by accident.

cutting done.

new caliper and rotor installed

probably installing the new spring, pads, and pins

rears complete. get a good look at the stainless steel lines.

close up of the driver side rear

comparison of front rotors

the brake rotor rubs against the dust shield here. cut it so the ball joint is exposed

front brake pads

passenger front complete

finished and car lowered off jack stands

random photos after a car wash

thoughts:

the brakes stop well, but only after u press the pedal down pretty far. it seems like the fix for this is to install the v8 master cylinders with the brake booster to get some feeling in the pedal so you dont have to travel far for braking power.

additionally, the ball joints might not have enough clearance with the brake rotors up front, it varies from car to car. in the front, i did not have enough clearance with my driver side and now it rubs when i turn the wheel too much to the right. solution would just be to bust out the angle grinder and grind down the ball joint a little bit so it does not interfere with the rotor anymore. so if anyone is following this path, take a look at the space between the rotor and the ball joint. if there is at least 3 or 4 mm of clearance, you might be ok when the car is lowered. else if there is less, i would shave the ball joint down a little bit to avoid ruining the rotor.
